History
The BoroDerby is an event dreamed up by Spokane glass artist Brandon Welk in 2010. The concept is awesome and simple: build cars out of glass and race them down a Boy Scouts of America Pinewood Derby track. In 2012 this event became a reality.
The first BoroDerby was hosted in Spokane WA, and it proved to be a creative way for the newly established non-profit organization, the Evergreen State Project, to raise money for local charities. It was both fun and successful. Our first BoroDerby provided $6,000 to charity and by our third year we were able to provide $10,000.
The Evergreen State Project is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 in Spokane, WA. Our current drive is to assist the local families and organizations in need. We have previously contributed to Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Holy Family Emergency Room and Pediatrics, and Agape Home Women & Children’s Shelters.
Our mission is to unite the artistic glass and cannabis community through charitable events that showcase the talent of nationally recognized artists and the cannabis culture of the Pacific Northwest. A collective effort to raise money and give back to those in need within our local community.

Current Situation
Our current beneficiaries are the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery who provides resources for women and children. They provide a 24-hour childcare, parent education and counseling, as well as referrals to community agencies. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center founded in 1975, is a charity dedicated to life saving research to eliminate cancer. The Agape Home Women’s & Children’s Shelter provides a stable, nurturing environment for women and children. They offer services that include a safe shelter, life skill classes, a support system, and access to community resources. We will also make individual donations to local families in need.
